Cleaning Handmade Carpets
Our Handmade by Hugh Mackay ranges are luxury carpets that require an extra bit of care and attention to keep them looking there best.
Handmade carpets require frequent vacuuming to reduce any shedding that may occur. This shedding is completely normal and shouldn’t alter the appearance or finished look.
Frequent vacuuming should continue throughout the life of the carpet.
Stains & Spills
If you have any spills or stains, be sure to scoop up any excess.
Once the excess is removed, then gently blot with plain white kitchen paper or a white towel until dry. Do not rub or scrub the area as this will push the spill or stain further into the pile.
Do not add water and avoid adding home chemicals that may set the stain, damage the pile or leave residue, making the stain worse. Dry cleaning methods should be utilised by a professional.
Cold water cleaning is also possible on Tencel carpets but expert knowledge is needed to carry this out effectively.
If the stain remains, then call a qualified carpet cleaner who is experienced in dealing with Tencel products.
You can also protect Tencel carpets by adding a water-based protector or solvent-based protector in light layers for optimum protection. This should be carried out by a professional carpet cleaner.
