Advice
Proper care and maintenance is the key to ensuring your carpet looks better, for longer. Within this section you will find a wealth of information on how to care for your carpets to keep it looking its best.
Daily Maintenance
Just like any other textile in your home, carpets require an element of daily maintenance.
The main source of maintenance is removing dust, dirt or debris with your trusty vacuum cleaner!
Daily maintenance of your carpet is dependent on the type of carpet you have. If you’re unsure, take a look at our guide to the various types of carpet.
Your vacuum cleaner is your carpets’ best friend! Keeping your vacuum at its best will help keep your carpet at its best.
We advise checking your vacuum’s bristles and regularly cleaning out the dust collection area to get the best results.
All wool carpets have the potential to support moth larvae, particularly in undisturbed, dark areas, for example, under furniture. With regular maintenance of the carpet, the avoidance of moth or wool eating insects’ intrusion is further enhanced. Read our moth proof warranty here.
Preparing for a new carpet
When choosing a carpet, it’s important to consider all of the options available and the maintenance each type requires.
The level of usage should also be taken into account. Is the area going to be used a lot and therefore have to deal with heavy foot fall?
Is the carpet going in a bedroom or on stairs? Is it in a living room or in an entrance way? Looking at how your carpet will be used will help determine which type is best for your space.
If you are choosing a carpet for an entrance way of an area that is used to enter the space, we recommend installing protective or barrier mats to help protect your carpet. Heavy duty mats should be installed outside to remove the bulk of dirt and debris, and light duty mats should be installed inside to remove the remainder.
